ABOUT ME
I started out in the acting game by chance; I won a lucky dip prize for acting lessons!
By coincidence (or fate..?) the teacher taking the class was Lyn Pierse (click here for more info on Lyn) who had brought down the Theatresports concept to Australia about 30 years ago. At the end of the course, Lyn recommended I try improvisation as well as I seemed to have a knack for it. Having not seen shows like 'Whose Line Is It Anyway', I was unsure what 'improv' entailed I decided to postpone in lieu of further acting courses at the Marian Street Theatre (Sydney) which I took for 6 months.
After finishing the courses at the Marian Street Theatre, and a couple of intensive courses at NIDA, I decided to do both Levels 1 and 2 with Lyn, and graduated in 2007. Over the next few years, I was a regular of Scared Scriptless (Sydney's Longest Running Comedy Show, but now defunct as of 2010), and even ran it being a man of many hats (casting, directing, producing, marketing, tech desk, etc).
In between playing and helping run Scared Scriptless, I also a couple of puppetry courses run by a Jim Henson trained puppeteer: Gary Friedman (click on here for more info on Gary). From there, I also wrote my first script, storyboard and experience in pitching a production. The result was "COURTING" (refer to the MULTIMEDIA section of this website).
In 2011, I also had my own improvised show, IMPROMANCE, in the Sydney Comedy Festival with almost sold out shows for the 3 nights at the Factory Theatre, Marrickville.
In 2012, I received a special commendation for my entry (NET ATTACK) in the Improvised Film Festival and the film was screened in a cinema to the applause of the rapturous audience.
