First up, let me apologise for the lack of updates to the blog. I’ve found it easier to update the Facebook page much more frequently especially with the new shows, workshops and classes coming up to fill the rest of 2014. I’ve just linked my Twitter updates to synchronise with all updates, so if in doubt, just check my Twitter feed.
There's a lot to catch up on, so let me just get this list of what’s happening in OCTOBER (all times are AEDT) out of the way first:
*(part of the Changemaker Festival)
OK, so let me update you what I've been doing...
In the past few months, I’ve run the shows IMPROMANCE and IMPROVISASIAN at the Event Space at Brand X with the intent to submit them to a couple of festivals next year. Also, I was asked to do a workshop and show for a Buck’s Night (no, no one stripped… Not for real anyway; why just mimed it) so that the Buck would be taught some communication primers in his newly married life. It was an honour to be asked to be involved in such a personal milestone, and it was great that the participants (and Buck!) had a fantastic time and took away some pointers. I was also contracted to give a tailor made show for a themed birthday party, and with that went exceptionally well too as people got more involved and had even bigger smiles at the end of the night. And finally, I received a couple of calls to do some more corporate role playing (one from a repeat client for the last 3 years!) for later this year. It’s nice to know that they trust me in delivering a realistic approach, but then again I’m one of the rare few improvisers that actually has a corporate background. There’s a noticeable difference in pretending something rather than being inspired from real life events.
Anyway, in the next few months, my aim is to write a blog entry and upload a video blog/interview both once a month. I’m looking at getting the first vblog in the middle of October, so I’ll be filming this weekend. I’ll try to tackle issues about fear of failure, confidence, etc over the course of the blogs, but if you want me to cover anything in particular, please let me know via the Contact Form (or via Facebook or Twitter).
If you look at the run above, you’ll see the reference to the Changemaker Festival. If you’re wondering what that is, in a nutshell it’s a festival which encourages social change through discussions, workshops, seminars, etc. It’s a great idea and cause and with its major sponsors being Deloitte and The Hub, it should be an awesome run. For those who have been following my improv journey, you know it stems from me wanting to help make the world a better place, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that I’ve registered a few events as part of the festival. The Changemaker Festival runs from between 17/10/14 and 26/10/14.
Cool! I better sign off now and I hope I see you at one of the events (just wave or shout me a "hey!" and I'll come by)!
